Ingredients:
1 C and 2 T of water
2 tsp of soft butter or softened margarine
3 and one fourth C flour
1 T sugar
1 and a half tsp salt
2 and a half tsp yeast for bread machines
The ingredients listed above will create a one and a half pound loaf of French bread. First, the blade needs to be inserted into the bread pan that has been removed from inside the machine.
All the ingredients on the list need to be added to the pan in the order they are mentioned, except for the yeast. This is added at the very end.
In the center of the pile of dry ingredients, a little well needs to be made using a finger or end of a wooden spoon. The yeast is then placed inside this well.
Once all the ingredients have been put in the pan, it can then be inserted back inside the bread machine.
When the lid has been closed and the machine is plugged in, the French bread program can be initiated with the touch of a button on the bread machine.
A selection needs to be made for the color of crust, as well as the size of desired loaf, then the start button is pressed.
The pan inside the breadmaker will be hot, so care needs to be taken when removing the fresh loaf. The bread machine should be unplugged after use.
